Marblehead boy’s Make-A-Wish set for Sunday

Four-year-old JJ Weiss loves superheroes. And this Sunday, March 29, Make-A-Wish is coming to Marblehead to make JJ's superhero dreams come true. JJ is battling medulloblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer. (The Current wrote about JJ last year HERE.) Health Department estimates $281 for trash fee; BoH approves budgets

The Board of Health spoke more about a proposed curbside trash and recycling fee at its meeting Tuesday night. With a 3% opt-out rate, Health Director Andrew Petty projected the curbside fee to be about $281 per household. “We believe somewhere between 3% and 5% might opt out,” Petty said, though board members suggested the opt-out rate could be higher in the first year. Much-anticipated figures are now in from Group Insurance Commission, the state-backed insurance plan the town uses to purchase employees’ health insurance. Marblehead weighs deep cuts, new fees to close $7.7M budget gap
