On Aug. 16, ABC News featured the Massachusetts Senate race with stories dedicated to Moulton and Markey.

ABC’s Martha Raddatz interviewed Moulton at his campaign headquarters at Derby Wharf in Salem, where he spoke about the need for generational change in Washington.

“One out of three Massachusetts residents last year thought about leaving the state because costs are too high,” Moulton told ABC. “Housing costs are skyrocketing, electricity bills are twice the national average. I mean, if you think that’s getting stuff done, then vote for the status quo. But what I hear from residents across this Commonwealth is that we need to do better. Senator Markey has been elected longer than I’ve been alive, so he’s had a lot of time to shake hands and meet voters, but as they get to know me throughout this campaign, they’re ready for change. They’re ready for a new generation of leaders, and that’s ultimately what this election is all about.”

Raddatz interviewed Markey in Worcester, who said age should not be an issue.

“If someone can’t do the job, they should step down,” he said. “And that’s regardless of your age. And that’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to continue to fight and fight and fight for the people. If I couldn’t do the job, I would step down. But there’s no indication that that is the case.”
