The town of Marblehead has put out a message that it will begin delivery of smaller trash and recycling carts starting Wednesday, Aug 19. Carts will be delivered to residents who have requested them, according to the trash collection schedule.
“Please leave town trash and/or recycling carts curbside following your day of collection for all exchanges,” according to the statement. “Residents should expect their smaller cart to be delivered the day after their scheduled trash and recycling collection. For example, if your regular collection day is Tuesday and you are scheduled to receive a smaller cart, delivery is expected on Wednesday. Please, make sure carts being picked up are empty and accessible at
street.”
These smaller carts are being delivered to people who have requested them through the Health Department.
“If you have requested a smaller cart and have not received your delivery by the second day after your scheduled collection, please notify the Marblehead Health Office so that we can follow up with your request,” according to the statement.

Many residents have complained that the new 65- and 95-gallon trash and recycling carts are too big, especially for older residents and those who live in the Historic District. Mary McAllister, 77, reported falling into a recycling cart when moving it while the cover was up.
