Thursday, Sept. 15
9:30 a.m. Past hit-and-run reported on Pleasant Street.
11:02 a.m. Responded to vehicle crash on Tedesco Street.
12:04 p.m. Minor vehicle crash reported on Rowland Street.
12:26 p.m. Dropped bucket reported on Atlantic Avenue.
1:07 p.m. Investigated report of unemployment fraud on West Shore Drive.
1:43 p.m. Road kill reported on Jersey Street and Power Terrace.
2:19 p.m. Person on Prospect Street was looking for a sign.
5:33 p.m. Credit card found on Atlantic Avenue.
6 p.m. Bonfire in pit reported on Phillips Street.
6:18 p.m. Traffic lights not cycling properly reported on Humphrey and Tedesco streets.
6:41 p.m. Boys dragging bike reported on Commercial Street and Atlantic Avenue.
9:19 p.m. Peace restored after disturbance on Tedesco Street.
Friday, Sept. 16
10:14 a.m. Officer was dispatched to Humphrey Street on the report of a neighbor dispute. One neighbor was having a fence installed and was upset because her neighbor asked her to have the finished side facing her home. The woman installing the fence explained that she wanted no contact with the other woman, and the other woman told the officer the same. They were advised about how to obtain harassment prevention orders and no-trespass orders.
1:20 p.m. Officer spoke with an Angenica Terrace resident regarding a a case of fraudulent activity.
Man had joined an online dating site the previous weekend, and the dating site had requested
payment of $50 by using an application called Cash App. The man had linked his two bank debit accounts to the Cash App in order to send payment. A short time later, man discovered someone had used the Cash App to make numerous purchases in various amounts, totaling $1,920. Man contacted bank and cancelled his bank accounts and debit cards. He was advised to report the incident to police. Officer advised man to keep an eye on any other accounts he may have in case they were compromised as well.
2:36 p.m. Investigated report of driver going the wrong way down Baldwin Road.
6:59 p.m. Officer took a report over the phone of an individual being blackmailed over Snapchat. The victim explained that he had received a direct message on Instagram from what appeared to be a female’s account. She asked him to add her on the app, after which he sent a picture of his face to her. A short while after, that account sent him back the picture of his face, photo shopped. They also began sending him messages stating that they would send this picture out to his family and everybody from his Instagram followers’ list unless he sent them $500. They also told him that they would destroy his life and make everyone believe he was a sex offender if he did not send them the money. Officer advised that this was most certainly a scam and to report the account to Snapchat. Officer advised victim not to send any money but offered no guarantee that the altered image would not be disseminated.

10:32 p.m. Peace restored after disturbance on Creesy Street.

Saturday, Sept. 17
8:58 a.m. Caller on Norman Street reported missing trimmer.
1:33 p.m. Traffic signal staying red reported on Tedesco and Maple streets.
5:26 p.m. Assisted Water Department on Atlantic Avenue.
7:18 p.m. Lost iPhone reported on Brown’s Island.
7:59 p.m. Loud music reported on Tedesco Street.
11:51 p.m. Suspicious activity reported on Elm Street.
Sunday, Sept. 18
12:24 a.m. At least one person was transported to the hospital after a vehicle crash on Humphrey Street.
2:34 a.m. Officer dispatched to Creesy Street to investigate a report that a vehicle had just struck a parked vehicle and fled the scene. Upon his arrival, officer discovered BMW pushed into the back of a Jeep parked in a driveway, while the BMW was still in the roadway. Both vehicle owners were on scene and stated that they had both been in their respective homes when they heard a loud crash and came outside to discover that the BMW, which had been legally parked on the side of the road on Creesy Street, had been struck from behind and pushed roughly 20 feet into the Jeep. Nobody on scene had witnessed the crash or saw the striking vehicle, which had already fled the area in an unknown direction. One officer searched the immediate area for the suspect vehicle while another officer took pictures and talked to the vehicle owners at the scene. The BWM suffered significant damage to the entire rear of the vehicle, as well as to the front right side. The Jeep suffered damage to the rear center and rear right sides.
5:13 a.m. Officer went to Creesy Street to take a report about harassment that resident wanted to report as an “act of domestic terrorism.” Man had been calling resident’s employer, trying to get her fired, and also messing with her window at night. Officer asked her if she had any proof that the man was committing these acts, and she showed him a blurry picture of a person walking by her window. Woman also told officer man was also “going around spreading airborne diseases, getting everyone sick with the AIDS virus.” By the time officer, left woman “seemed satisfied” with the conversation, according to the officer’s report, as she had mainly been concerned about documenting the man’s terrorist activity.
7:28 a.m. Cards were found on Ocean Avenue.
2:09 p.m. Officers went to Commercial Street to negotiate the release of a cat being held “hostage” by one of two roommates who each claimed ownership of the cat. Male caller stated that the cat had been microchipped under his name and that he also had veterinary bills to show that he is the cat’s caretaker and owner. Officers then spoke to the woman, who stated that she had locked the cat in her room because she is the cat’s rightful owner, as it had been a gift from their previous landlord. She stated that she did not have any documentation to prove her ownership but that she would be able to get it at a later date. Officer explained that this was a civil property dispute that would need to be addressed in civil court. Woman then claimed that man had the cat microchipped without her knowledge or consent. Officer explained that, between the veterinary bills and the microchip, by all appearances it seemed to be the man’s cat. Woman was advised to follow up with the animal control officer as to how to establish her ownership of the cat, after which woman relented and allowed the man to take the cat back to his room. Woman expressed concern that man was not properly caring for the cat, but officer wrote that during his time in the apartment,
all of the pets appeared healthy, and man had food, water and a litter box in his room for the cat. Woman was advised her to address her concerns with the animal control officer. Man and woman assured officers there would not be any further issue after they left.

Monday, Sept. 19
1:38 a.m. Officer locked and closed vehicle door found open on Baldwin Road.
6:36 a.m. Disturbance reported on Lafayette Street.
9:59 a.m. Wallet found on Ocean Avenue.
1:33 p.m. Investigated report of vandalism on Farrell Court.
9:07 p.m. Officers assisted at scene of vehicle crash on Waterside Road and Green Street.
9:11 p.m. Report taken on Kimball Street.
Tuesday, Sept. 20
7:19 a.m. Hunting was reported on Crowninshield Island. No action was required.
7:35 a.m. Officer responded to West Shore Drive after multiple reports that a vehicle had struck a child on a bicycle. Upon his arrival, officer found the child sitting on the curb at the intersection of Shorewood Road and West Shore Drive with a towel over her right foot and being comforted by two people, including the driver of the vehicle. As firefighters rendered first aid to the child, the driver explained to officer that he was attempting to take a right hand turn from Shorewood Road onto West Shore Drive when he struck the child, who was riding her bicycle inbound in the outbound lane that man was attempting to turn into. Man said that he never saw the bicyclist over the hood of his vehicle and stopped when he heard his passenger yell to him from the back seat that he had just hit somebody. The driver of the vehicle directly behind the man’s witnessed the accident confirmed his story.
11:04 a.m. May Street resident reported having lost car keys.
11:15 a.m. Large Verizon wire reported down on Tioga Way.
4:15 p.m. Jewelry that had not been returned reported on Atlantic Avenue.
Wednesday, Sept. 21
9:53 a.m. Caller on Atlantic Avenue reported that card had been compromised.
12:33 p.m. Pleasant Street resident reported vehicle had been stolen in New York.
1:26 p.m. Vehicle was repossessed on May Street.
1:27 p.m. Assisted at scene of two-vehicle crash on Humphrey Street.
3 p.m. Officer was dispatched to Atlantic Avenue, where resident told officer that he had fixed up a vehicle and then sold it to a friend at a bargain price. Man said that, four months after teh sale, the man had called him claiming there was a problem with the vehicle, and resident wound up writing a check for $1,900 to cover the repairs, even though the sale had taken place months earlier. Man was now claiming that there were additional mechanical issues with the vehicle and had demanded more money, which the resident refused to pay. Resident said that prompted his friend to continue harassing and even threatening to come to his house and “beat him up.” Resident said there was a third party also harassing him on his friend’s behalf. Resident showed officer a long list of text messages related to the sale of the vehicle. Residents were advised about the process for seeking a harassment prevention order. Man planned to head to court the following morning.
4 p.m. Walk-in to police station reported having left his iPhone on a desk in an office in the auditorium in Abbot Hall while he went to use a restroom and returning to find it missing. He had tried to track the phone using the Find My iPhone app, but it had been powered off, which made him more suspicious that the phone had been stolen.
5:09 p.m. Problem with traffic light reported on Ocean Avenue and Pleasant Street.
