LETTER: A vote to continue School Committee momentum

To the editor:

I love Marblehead. I am proud to call this town my family’s home. And we weathered a

storm in our amazing seaside community with our town’s leadership for the last few years, and we are finally coming out on the other side. Why is that? Because our friends and neighbors overwhelmingly voted for change last year, and we need to continue that change in June’s election.

Our School Committee is making strides in the right direction. I credit the positive momentum to the new people with innovative ideas and refreshing perspectives to move our schools forward. We have a terrific superintendent, John Robidoux, with stable leadership. He is committed to us, and we are committed to him.

And because of all of these factors, I support electing Melissa Clucas and Ann-Marie Jordan to the School Committee.

Melissa is an asset to our town, and we are lucky to have her. Her keen understanding of finance and clear communication skills were on display at Town Meeting. As a CFO in her professional life and a mom of three, we are lucky that she gives her time to better our town.

Ann-Marie Jordan is a lifelong educator and spent her entire career in public education. It’s a perspective we all want for the School Committee. Ann-Marie can provide the voice of the educators and school administrators to gain buy-in and understanding. She may be a self proclaimed “newbie,” but she brings a fresh perspective that will continue the wave of change that we started last year.

Let’s keep the positive momentum moving forward. With so many opinions about the override, we need financially savvy brains on the School Committee with a well-running, collegial group who only want the best for our town and our kids.

Please join me in supporting Melissa, Ann Marie and the override.
