In a tradition dating back to 1889, Race Week returns to Marblehead Harbor on Monday, July 23.

Junior Race Week kicks things off Monday through Wednesday, with “hundreds of sailors ages 8 to 18 competing in Optimists, C420s and Lasers,” according to the website of the Pleon Yacht Club, which hosts the event each summer with race management help from the Boston, Corinthian, Eastern and Manchester yacht clubs.

After the juniors compete, Race Week continues with adults July 27-30. With about 200 sailboats, Marblehead Race Week is part of the national Helly Hansen Sailing World Regatta Series and co-organized this year by the Marblehead Racing Association and Sailing World. The Corinthian is the host club.
