OBITUARY: Wilfred H. ‘Bill’ Crist, 89

Wilfred H. “Bill” Crist, 89, of Peabody, died Monday at Salem Hospital after a brief illness. Born and raised in Lynn, he was the son of the late Wilfred H. and Madeline (Love) Crist. He was the husband of the late Jean C. (Cannon) Crist, with whom he spent nearly 50 year of marriage. They raised their family in Peabody, and he was a wonderful husband and father.

Bill was a graduate of Lynn English High School, Class of 1950, and Northeastern University, Class of 1961. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a production manager for HK Porter in Somerville until his retirement.

Bill was an avid golfer and a member of the Shoe City Golf League. He enjoyed spending time at the Peter Torigian Senior Center in Peabody, playing pool and socializing with the many friends he met there. He also enjoyed walking and hiking.

He is survived by his three daughters, Kelly Zelenka and her husband Michael of Texas, Tracy Donnelly and her husband Mark of Lynn, and Cathy Naughton and her husband Dave of Tewksbury; five grandchildren, Lauren Chilcoat and her husband Ben, Michelle Zelenka, Tim Donnelly, David Naughton Jr., and Matthew Naughton; as well as his brother, Francis Crist, and his late wife Marjorie of Marblehead. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and close friends including Virginia Browder.

Service Information: His funeral will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Solomine Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Route 129), Lynn. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Friday from 4-7 p.m.
