Old Burial Hill walking tour
Fridays, Oct. 9 and 16, 4 p.m.
The Marblehead Museum will debut a new walking tour of Old Burial Hill led by director Dan Marshall. Established around Marblehead’s first meetinghouse in 1638, Old Burial Hill is one of the oldest European graveyards in Massachusetts. Visitors will learn about the people laid to rest over the past 350 years, the funeral practices of the past, the carvers who worked the stone and the symbolism of the artwork. This program will involve walking, standing and stairs.
Tickets are $10 for museum members and $15 for the public. They are available at marbleheadmuseum and by calling 781-631-1768.
Blessing of the Animals
Saturday, Oct. 10, 11 a.m.
All animals are invited to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church for a lighthearted, non-denominational blessing of the animals. The service will take place outside on the plaza. In case of rain, the event will be in the parish hall. Dogs, cats, rabbits, birds and other friendly animals are welcome — and so are their humans. For those whose animal friends prefer to stay home, stuffed animals are invited, too. The brief outdoor gathering will celebrate the companionship, joy and unconditional love that animals bring to our lives. All are welcome, regardless of religious affiliation. Location: 135 Lafayette St.

Rock out
Saturday, 8:30 p.m.
Rock out to 5X Fast at The Rip Tide, 116 Pleasant St. The band plays a mix of indie, alternative and new wave covers.
Marblehead 250: Revolutionary War Heroes in Marblehead Cemeteries
Wednesday, Oct. 14, 7-8:30 p.m.

Learn about the Marblehead men who fought in the American Revolution, most as part of Glover’s Regiment. Others were captains and sailors in Washington’s crucial privateer fleet. Many never returned home, dying on battlefields or at sea. But those buried in Marblehead’s graveyards help us remember our town’s role in the nation’s fight for independence. Find out more about who lies where — and about what’s wrong about the 1930 tercentenary sign at Old Burial Hill — in this Abbot Library talk with historian Pam Peterson. Learn more and register at abbotlibrary.org. The event is in-person and virtual.
Jazz at the Arts
Thursday, Oct. 15, 7-9 p.m.
Enjoy the sounds of Henley Douglas Jr. with the Jorgan Trio at the Marblehead Arts Association, 8 Hooper St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and there will be a cash bar. Tickets are $35. marbleheadarts.org.
