To the editor:
This is a sincere appreciation for the community.
I found my way up to Marblehead by chance two years ago. I came upon a job post online for The Mariner, a very new operation at the time. I even had to search for it on the map to actually confirm where it was located. To my knowledge, I had never before set foot in the town.
The Mariner team gave me a shot in assisted living, something I have never officially done before. My dad had passed away fairly recently, and I was feeling very lost on a personal level in my mid 20s. To say it changed my life is an understatement.
I slowly learned the way of life in Marblehead — the beauty, the stories from residents, the businesses, the history — and quickly came to realize it may just as well be the best place there is.
This past winter, I also found myself working at the Eastern Yacht Club right on the other side of the harbor. So now I get two Marblehead experiences, sometimes even on the same day.
Even though I live 15 miles away in Everett, this town has welcomed me in so many ways that I gladly drive up six days a week. Through hundreds of people I have come to know, it really is a special place. I hope to live here one day, but until then, I can still spend my days here in this great town.
Sincerely,
Michael Diorio
