First-day jitters mixed with big smiles Monday morning as about 3,000 students headed back to Marblehead Public Schools, including Charter School. Some were clutching their parents’ hands while others raced ahead, eager to see their friends, meet their teachers and begin a new year.
At Glover School, Superintendent John Robidoux and new Principal Mary LeBlanc greeted children and families as they streamed toward the building for the start of a new school year.
Some students arrived on foot, while others rolled up on bikes and scooters. Parents offered last-minute hugs and goodbyes as children gathered outside, waiting for the doors to open.
Second-grader Mila Curtin knew exactly what she was looking forward to.
She said she was most excited to meet her teacher, Ms. Daggett — and, of course, to play at recess. She was also excited about reading more this year. Her favorite books? The “Piggy and Gerald” series Mo Willems.
