Marblehead High drops in state ranking
In the new U.S. News World Report ranking, Marblehead has dropped to the 78th best school in Massachusetts. That’s down 17 spots from No. 61 in the 2025 ranking.
The new ranking is based on 2024-25 school-year data. The ranking looks at six categories, including college readiness, state assessment performance and graduation rate.
Swampscott schools came in at 58th this year.
Smaller trash, recycling bins arrive
The town began delivering smaller trash and recycling bins on Aug. 19 to residents who requested them. About 400 people asked for the smaller bins. The larger bins — delivered in June — are 95-gallons for trash and 65-gallons for recycling.
Celebrating 70 years of live theater
Join Marblehead Little Theatre and celebrate its 70th anniversary at a fundraising gala. There will be live performances, light food and refreshments, a raffle and silent auction. Digital Docs welcomes U.S. army veteran Trevor Scotti
The Digital Docs, a locally owned computer service and technology support company serving Marblehead and nearby North Shore communities, has hired U.S. Army veteran and Marblehead resident Trevor Scotti as a computer repair and hardware technician.
Scotti served in the Army from 2019 through 2026, most recently as a psychological operations team leader at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. In that role, he managed equipment, training, security and daily operations for a small independent team, often in remote locations where replacement parts and outside technical support were limited.
“Trevor is technically skilled, calm under pressure, methodical and able to explain complicated problems in plain language,” said Stephen Bach, owner of The Digital Docs. “His military experience taught him to take responsibility, solve problems and follow through.”
Finance Committee vacancies
The Select Board is seeking letters of interest and resumes to fill two vacancies on the Finance Committee. The committee reviews the budgets of all town departments and holds a public hearing on all Town Meeting warrant articles calling for the expenditure of town funds.

Boat storage notice
The winter boat storage season will begin Sept. 15 at Parker’s and Cliff Street boatyards. Boats stored at either boatyard last season will receive preference to store their boats this season. New applicants will be accepted beginning Aug. 15 on a first come first serve basis with Marblehead residents receiving preference.
Marblehead Trading Company will be collecting the storage fee for the town. That fee is based on a rate of $6 per square foot as determined by multiplying the overall length of the boat by its beam width. This fee is for storage only.

Pickleball for a purpose
Registration is open for the fourth annual Win-4-All Pickleball Tournament to benefit Girls Inc. of Boston and Lynn. The event is sponsored by TQM Wealth Partners and offered in conjunction with Marblehead Pickleball.
