Damage forces closure of popular Crocker Park dock

One of Marblehead’s most popular swimming spots, the dock at Crocker Park, is closed Wednesday morning after it was damaged during Tuesday’s rainstorm, according to Harbormaster Mark Souza.

A permanent flotation log beneath the dock broke free, forcing the closure.

“We are in the process of assessing the extent of the damage and how long it will take to make repairs,” Souza said. “Once I have it out of the water, I’ll have a better idea.”

The dock was especially popular over the hot holiday weekend.
