Marblehead girls mile relay team returns home as All-Americans from annual Nike nationals

From June 18-22 at Eugene, Oregon’s Hayward Field, the Nike Outdoor National High School Track Meet took place. The Marblehead Track Club, consisting of only four qualifying competitors, compiled four points, along with a host of other teams nationwide

MHS captain Marri O’Connell (7:33.41) finished 26th out of 50 runners in the steeplechase, which is essentially 2,000-meters that encompasses a water jump that the racers must jump into and hurdles that are utilized as long barriers, similar to horse jumps in equestrian events. 

The Marblehead 4xmile relay team of Sarah Munroe, Eleanor Morgan, Norah Walsh and O’Connell (21:41.08) placed fifth in the country to earn All-American honors.
