The community has raised nearly $60,000 for the family of a 55-year-old Marblehead man who died suddenly on Monday, Dec. 22.

Friends launched a GoFundMe to support the family. You can reach it HERE.

“Being a dad was Joe’s greatest joy,” the GoFundMe reads. “Whether he was cheering from the sidelines at a sports game, hosting unforgettable birthday parties or turning Halloween into a truly magical holiday, Joe created a home filled with love, fun and lifelong memories.”

Carpineto used to own J.S. Brandi’s in Marblehead. Most recently, he worked as a project manager for the state.

“Joe was known for his incredible cooking and his open-door hospitality. He loved bringing people together—family, friends, teammates and neighbors — often around a table filled with great food and laughter,” the GoFundMe reads. “Joe had many talents that he has passed on to his children including his cooking skills, his extraordinary illustration skills and his love for movies and music.”

Sherri Carpineto was moved by the community’s support. She posted to Facebook Saturday morning, “My older son’s friends, an amazing group of MHS juniors showed up at my house to shovel and clean off our cars in frigid temps. They quietly shoveled, cleaned and left. No fanfare, no thank yous. In a time when I am worried how I will stay in my home and support my boys, I am reminded that support is everywhere.

Sherri added: “Joe would be thrilled to know his family is cared for. That’s all he ever wanted. There are amazing kids and amazing parents who raised them in this town. Through the darkest times, there can be light. Wanted to share some glimmers of good for a change.”
