Knitters Boutique Sale & Holiday Open House
Now through Dec. 5, 9 a.m.–noon
The knitters group at the Marblehead Council on Aging is selling handmade hats, scarves, shawls, baby blankets and more at the Community Center, 10 Humphrey St. Proceeds benefit the Friends of the Marblehead COA.

An Evening of Piano and Chamber Music
Friday, Dec. 5, 7 p.m.
The community is invited to settle in for an evening of expressive piano and chamber music. The program brings together accomplished musicians who will perform works by Beethoven, Liszt, Rachmaninoff and other celebrated composers. The concert will be held in the event space/parish hall at St. Andrew’s Church, 135 Lafayette St. The concert is free to the public and donations will be gratefully accepted.

Our Lady Star of the Sea Christmas Fair
Saturday, Dec. 6, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
The annual Our Lady Star of the Sea Christmas fair returns with a live nativity, shopping, raffles and food at 85 Atlantic Ave.

The event features local vendors selling handcrafted items and gifts.
Raffle prizes include gift certificates to popular local restaurants, hotels, sports events and themed gift baskets. Highlights include tickets to the Celtics, Bruins and Patriots, and gift cards to Shubie’s, The Landing, The Beacon and Mission on the Bay.

Old North Church Festival Chorus Concerts

Saturday, Dec. 6, 8 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 7, at 7:30 p.m.

The community is welcome to attend the 45th annual Old North Festival Chorus Christmas Concerts at 35 Washington St. The 90-person chorus and full orchestra will perform the following: Joseph Haydn’s “Missa in tempore belli,” John Rutter’s “When Icicles Hang;” and works by Dan Forrest, Mark Hayes, as well as other seasonal favorites.

Soloists and guest artists include: Holly Cameron, soprano; Anne Burgett, soprano; Rebecca Kenneally, mezzo-soprano; Kevin Hayden, tenor; David Thomas Mather, baritone; and Caleb Mayo, narrator.

Tickets for Festival Chorus performances are $35 and may be purchased in advance at Arnould Gallery, Maria’s Gourmet and Crosby’s Marketplace. Tickets are also available at onchurch.org/festivalchorus.

The 80’s Comedy Boom: A Boston Comedy History

Wednesday, Dec. 10, 6 p.m.

Come to Abbot Library, 235 Pleasant St., for the program “The 80’s Comedy Boom.” Dan Zaino will talk about how Boston became a hotspot through the birth of The Comedy Connection and the Ding Ho, launching Steven Wright, Paula Poundstone, Denis Leary, Marc Maron, David Cross, Janeane Garofalo, Jimmy Tingle, Lenny Clarke, Bobcat Goldthwait and more.

This presentation will include clips of their comedy along with audio from some of Zaino’s own interviews through more than 26 years covering this scene for The Boston Globe, The Boston Phoenix and other publications. Get Cookin’ With Julia Child 

Thursday, Dec. 11, 1-2:30 p.m.

Meet Julia Child, the beloved French chef, in a live performance featuring an actress from Delvena Theatre Company at Abbot Library.

Learn more about Child’s life, from her privileged early years in California when she had no interest in food (except for eating what the family’s private chef prepared) to becoming one of the culinary legends of all time. After the performance, the cast will be available for Q&A. Register at abbotlibrary.org/events.

Christmas Chorale
Sunday, Dec. 14, 3 p.m.

The Star of the Sea Concert Series invites you to an afternoon of sacred and seasonal music, presented as a free gift to the parish and the community of Marblehead. This year’s program includes Josef Rheinberger, Ralph Vaughan Williams and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor. The performance features the Star of the Sea Choir and 40-piece symphony orchestra, with soloists Holly Cameron and James Demler. Admission is free, and all are welcome.
A free-will offering will be gratefully received. 85 Atlantic Ave.

Community Menorah Lighting

Thursday, Dec. 18, 5 p.m.

Celebrate Hanukkah at this community menorah lighting outside National Grand Bank, 91 Pleasant St. There will be songs, inspiring words and a Hanukkah treat.
