Christie-Ann Jannell Jones, a lifelong resident of Marblehead, died peacefully on Jan. 26, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. She was 88. Christie was predeceased by her beloved husband Stephen Decatur Jones and by her sister Gretchen Jannell. Born April 28, 1937, to Arthur and Jean (Anderson) Jannell, Christie was raised in Marblehead. Lois Kimball Case lived her 84 years by the words printed in her high school yearbook: “Manners are the best way of doing things.” She embodied that belief every day of her life. Capt. Louis P Hettinger, USN (Ret), of Ashburn, Virginia, age 93 passed away peacefully on Dec. 28, 2025. Louis was born on Oct. 13, 1932, in Newton, to Paul C. Hettinger and Margaret M. H. Louise Parker, 93, a lifelong Marbleheader, passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 16, at the Bertram House in Swampscott. She was the daughter of the late William E. Parker and Ellen L. (Toomey) Parker. Receiving much recognition during her lengthy career with the New England Telephone Company, Nynex and Verizon, Louise rose from switchboard operator to engineer, managing the installation of communication networks in buildings throughout Eastern Massachusetts. Jane Rupp Cooke (1930-2026) died peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Jan. 11 after a brief illness.
