Superintendent John Robidoux Friday emphasized that "Our school are safe zones" after hearing that the FBI and other law enforcement agents pulled over a Lassana Landscaping truck on Beach Street and took into custody at least one man. CFO appointed to School Committee ahead of challenging budget season

The Marblehead School Committee has a new member. In a joint vote Wednesday night, the Select Board and School Committee appointed Melissa Clucas to fill the vacant seat on the School Committee through June.  Clucas, a chief financial officer and mother of three, received six of the eight votes. Superintendent John Robidoux is working with the town, neighbors of the high school and youth sports leaders to come up with a deal to keep the lights on more nights at Piper Field. Four residents have applied to fill an empty seat on the School Committee, including two unsuccessful candidates in June’s municipal elections. On Sunday afternoon, Superintendent John Robidoux alerted the School Committee via email that Rep. Jenny Armini has assured him “that METCO funding is intact now and will be moving forward.” At its July 31 meeting, Robidoux told the School Committee he had learned that Marblehead would lose its annual $514,720 in state METCO funding beginning in the 2026-27 school year, due to the town's noncompliance with the multifamily housing law, 3A. Al Williams was elected the new chair of the School Committee in a 3-2 vote at a July 2 meeting, with immediate past chair Jenn Schaeffner and Brian Ota opposing. Members and friends of the Marblehead High School Class of 1975 will be celebrating their 50-year reunion Aug. 1-3.  Festivities kick off on Friday evening, Aug. 1, with a meet-and-greet reception in downtown Marblehead. The main event takes place Saturday evening, Aug. 2, at the Corinthian Yacht Club and features a buffet dinner overlooking Marblehead Harbor. School’s out for summer!

Today at noon, students streamed out of schools across Marblehead ready to start their summer vacations. The school year ended Wednesday at noon. The last day was extended into late June due to the 11-day teachers strike last fall. Sidney Ronshagen graduated from third grade at the Glover School today and was greeted by her mom.
