The nonprofit Miles for Mary will host two fall events in Marblehead to raise awareness and support research into new treatments for brain cancer. A 5K run/walk on Oct. 14 and a research seminar on Nov. 6 will honor Mary Park, who died from glioblastoma in 2012 just weeks after her diagnosis. At a recent meeting, Board of Health member Tom McMahon choked back tears as he talked about a high school friend who died after using a street drug. The board voted unanimously to provide free fentanyl test strips and NARCAN in town. Fentanyl is a deadly opioid that is sometimes added to marijuana and other drugs.
