Black & Blue wrestlers take home first Gionet title since 2018 after electrifying finish

The Marblehead/Swampscott Black & Blue wrestling team is still elated over its performance at the annual Daniel Gionet Memorial Tournament in Pelham, New Hampshire, on Saturday, Jan. 11. And it’s for good reason, because it was the program’s first invitational tournament since January of 2018, when that team also came out on top in the Gionet Tournament. “We put our best 14 out there, and they all came through big time,” said a proud coach Mike Stamison. The Marblehead/Swampscott Black & Blue wrestling team proudly…

Hockey Headers dominate again after refocusing on the details The Marblehead High boys hockey team (8-1-1) returned to form after a midseason hiccup, where they got away from the little things that made them successful throughout the 2024 calendar year, much to the chagrin of Peabody (3-1), Medford (7-0) and Gloucester (6-0). After 10 games, they have outscored the opposition, 39-11. In the game against the Fishermen last Saturday afternoon at Salem State University, senior captain Kyle Hart setup sophomore Kellen Laramie with the first…

The Marblehead High boys lacrosse team (21-1, seventh seed) has seen enough of the South Shore after two long bus rides in a space of just three days to play in a couple of more Division 2 state tournament games. They definitely know pretty much every mile marker on Route 3, 6 and 18, while spending the rest of the time on I-95 South and Route 93 North. For the record, they logged over 360 round trip miles, first coming back victorious from the Cape…

Smooth spring sailing returns for Marblehead Fishwagons with new coach, regular weekly races around Greater Boston

For the first time in three years, the Marblehead High Fishwagons sailing team enjoyed a complete schedule of races as an independent squad. The Fishwagons are roughly among 40 high school sailing teams competing in the state, and most are participating as independents after the pandemic wiped out their regularly scheduled races since 2020. There’s hope they will be rejoining the Mass. Bay League (Division A / B), which is a part of the New England Scholastic Sailing Association (NESSA), next spring. The 2023 Marblehead…
