The Boston Celtics are awarding its Heroes Among Us honor to Owen Coyne, the Marblehead High School senior who died Oct. 1 of a sudden brain hemorrhage.

Coyne’s family will be at the C’s home opener tonight to receive the award.
“Coyne was an exceptional student-athlete and a respected leader in his community,” reads a statement from the Celtics. “Just months before his passing, Owen made the decision to register as an organ donor, a selfless act that has since saved five lives. Coyne will be honored posthumously, with his family accepting the award on his behalf.”
Late Marblehead resident and Celtics vice president of public relations Heather Walker received the Heroes Among Us award on March 13, 2022, for her efforts to raise money and awareness for brain cancer research.
