OBITUARY: Georgia Templer Murray

After battling through a long illness, Georgia Templer Murray of Marblehead passed away on Sept. 1.

Georgia was born in 1948 and raised in Newton by her wonderful mother, who absolutely adored her daughter. Georgia graduated from Boston University and began working at the Digital Corporation. In the 1970s, there were very few women in the computer field, but those women at Digital bonded together and ended up becoming lifelong friends.

In 1973, Georgia met and married the love of her life, Richard Murray. Over the course of their long and happy marriage, Georgia and Dick traveled extensively and often, along with many of these friends. They had properties on Newfound Lake, New Hampshire, and also on Cape Cod, which they generously shared on vacations with friends.

Both Dick and Georgia were passionate about animals — especially dogs. They cherished their own dog Player (that every workman and Grace Oliver visitor got to know very quickly at lunch time). The couple also loved whenever their neighbors traveled and they were asked to look after the pups, as taking care of their canine friends was a treasured part of their lives.

Georgia leaves behind many devoted friends and her much-loved nieces and nephews. She will be missed but is finally at peace, and once again reunited with beloved husband Dick. A memorial service for Georgia is planned for a future date.
