Household Hazardous Waste Collection
The Marblehead Health Department has scheduled the next Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 4-7 p.m. at the Transfer Station.

New police hire
The Select Board approved the hiring of Marblehead native and Marine veteran Luke Morris as a new police officer. Morris served in the Marine Corps 2021-2025 and was honorably discharged. His start date will be Oct. 24, or the date of the next opening at the state Police Academy.
Town administrator job description set
The Select Board approved a job posting for the town administrator position being vacated by Thatcher Kezer. The deadline for resumes to be received is Oct. 8. The starting salary range is listed as $200,000-$215,000.
New Finance Committee members
The Select Board appointed two new members to the Finance Committee — David Weber and Renee Sidman. Weber serves on the Marblehead Master Plan Advisory Group and worked with the pro-override group 4MHD. Sidman has 25 years experience of data analytics in medicine.

St. Andrew’s Fall Rummage Sale
One of Marblehead’s longstanding rummage-sale traditions returns this fall, with thousands of donated items ready for new homes. On Sept. 26, 8 a.m.-1 p.m., come browse clothing and accessories, jewelry, home goods, toys, sporting goods, electronics, collectibles and specialty and vintage items. The Select Board is seeking letters of interest to serve on the Marblehead 400th Anniversary Committee. This committee will plan a town-wide celebration marking the 400th anniversary of the founding of Marblehead in 1629. Submit letters of interest to: Select Board, Abbot Hall, 188 Washington St. or email wileyk@marbleheadma.gov. The deadline to submit is Sept. 30.
Medicine from a Colonial Garden
Join Marblehead Museum for a medicinal stroll through the Jeremiah Lee Mansion Gardens on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 4 p.m.
Flowers, fruits and herbs held cures in the colonial period. Explore some of the plants that colonial doctors and families used to treat a variety of ailments.
