The Current reached out to Superintendent John Robidoux for comment, and he responded, “Answers to your questions will be more aptly answered at the point where Marblehead Public Schools has received an official notice from Mike that he is resigning.”

According to the Andover News, Andover Superintendent Keith Taverna announced Pfifferling’s hiring in a message to staff and families, saying that Pfifferling will begin this fall.

Pfifferling started in Marblehead in 2024 and worked closely with district and town leaders to reduce the MPS budget for fiscal 2027. He also worked on the $15 million, three-year override passed at Town Meeting.

Town Administrator Thatcher Kezer announced this summer that he will be retiring early, in December. Town Finance Director Aleesha Benjamin has also left Marblehead for a job in Nantucket.
