To the editor:
I am writing to express my unconditional support of Dr. Julie Selbst for a seat on the Marblehead Board of Health. I have known Julie for about 15 years now, and in that time she has consistently impressed me with her knowledge (about everything!) and her commitment to all that she does, both personally and professionally. She is a formidable woman — wise, forthright, considerate, articulate and caring.
Dr. Selbst is not only a fantastic physician but spent the first 10 years of her professional life as a lawyer. This provides her with quite a unique perspective, and this combination is certainly exceptional for such a role.
And speaking as a pediatrician in our community, I was surprised that during the COVID emergency there was a certain lack of coordination or support locally. With the more recent addition of physicians on the board, I have already been more impressed with the communication and the clear desire for improving the health of our community. I have no doubt the addition of Dr. Selbst would help build on this new momentum.
