MHS laxmen extend winning streak to five after triumphs over Central Catholic, Masco

Don’t look now, but the Marblehead High boys lacrosse team (6-2) has won five in a row, including two last week against non-league Central Catholic (12-5, April 20) and Masco (11-8, April 22), while their peers were on spring vacation. 

Coach John Wilkens likes what he sees lately from his team that has a nice blend of youth and veteran talent. “We played very well throughout all four quarters against a good Central Catholic team, while we turned in a really good first half against Masco,” said Wilkens. “We have had a good mix of youth and (experienced players) coming through with solid efforts for us so far this year.” 

Against Central Catholic, Tyler Forbes led the way with four goals and two assists. Will Kinahan collected two goals and one assist. Captain Owen Dulac accounted for two scores. Landon Dosch, Kyle Thibodeau, Reid Weysor and Bailey Finkle each netted one goal. Finkle also had an assist, along with captain Grady Becker. Goalie Colin Maniaci, also a senior captain, did his part to secure the win with 17 saves. 

“This was definitely one of his best games,” said Wilkens of Maniaci afterwards. 

Against Masco, these Magicians led from beginning to end. They were in front at halftime, 6-2. 

Weysor paced the team’s attack with three goals and one assist. Becker was also a major factor on offense with two goals and two assists. Forbes accounted for two scores, along with Thibodeau. Kinahan and Finkle each had a goal and an assist. Dulac was the assist leader with three. Dosch set up one tally. 

Maniaci once again made sure that his teammates stayed ahead on the scoreboard by coming up with 14 saves.
