MHS freshman off to Nashville
Marblehead High School freshman Dounia Peters-Abbadi recently had a successful trip to the Business Professionals of America 60th State Leadership Conference in Southbridge — on multiple fronts.

Peters-Abbadi received a Massachusetts Merit Scholar Award and finished in the top three for her event, “Human Resources Management,” which means she will compete at BPA’s national conference in Nashville in May.
Even though this was the first year participating in the BPA, Peters-Abbadi ran for a seat on the 2026-27 state officer team. She gave a speech to members in attendance, held a rally with giveaways and designed and distributed flyers to promote her campaign, which ended with her election to the role of parliamentarian.
BPA is the nation’s leading Career Technical Student Organization, which provides students and members with skill development and the opportunity to make personal connections. Students that join BPA have the opportunity to further their knowledge and prepare for a career in modern fast-paced business environments. Learn more at bpa.org.
Library Crab Circuits Workshop
The Abbot Library, in partnership with Salem Sound Coastwatch, will hold a Crab Circuits Workshop Friday, March 27, 2:45 p.m.-3:45 p.m. in the library’s Thompson Makerspace.
Students ages 8-12 are invited to come build a buzzing Robo-Crab using simple circuits and a motor, then test and tweak their design to make it move better. Compare the robot’s “legs” and motion to real crabs at the touch tank and explore how body design helps animals thrive in the intertidal zone.

Registration is limited to 15 students, and online registration at tinyurl.com/crab-robots is required.
Marblehead Museum annual meeting

The Marblehead Museum will hold its annual meeting on Thursday, April 2 at 6:30 p.m. in the J.O.J. Frost Gallery at 170 Washington St. The board of trustees will provide a year in review of 2025 and will discuss opening plans of the newest museum building, the Jeremiah Lee Brick Kitchen and Slave Quarters, opening this spring.
The meeting will be followed at 7 p.m. by a talk from Christa Beranek of the Fiske Center for Archaeological Research. Beranek will reveal the results of last year’s archaeological dig at the Jeremiah Lee Mansion. Some of the artifacts found during the dig will be displayed.
The annual meeting is free to attend and open to the public, but registration is required. To register, visit the Marblehead Museum’s website, marbleheadmuseum.org, or call the museum at 781-631-1768.
