About 75 people, bundled against frigid winds, rallied Tuesday afternoon at Tent’s Corner across from Marblehead High School to protest President Donald Trump’s policies. The local demonstration was part of a national Free America event.
In Marblehead, participants waved small American flags and held signs reading “Resist Fascism,” “Protect Immigrants’ Rights” and “Make America Ethical Again.”

“I came out in solidarity with the people standing out in very cold weather for longer times in Minneapolis, and for our Fourth Amendment rights,” said Jeanne Lambkin, wearing sunglasses whose frame spelled out NO. “Everyone deserves due process. Everyone deserves to be treated fairly before the law.”
Lambkin added, “It’s shocking to see the high number of people being detained who have no criminal background. This is all just wrong.”
Drivers traveling through the intersection frequently honked in support, with passengers waving or giving thumbs-up gestures.
“I’m very connected with families on the North Shore who are immigrants,” said Jean Hamburg, holding a sign that read, “Kidnapping is still illegal.”
“The cruelty is beyond words,” Hamburg added. “I don’t know what happened to kindness, but we can stand up for what we believe in and what we think is right.”
Mimi Nelson Oliver said the impact of immigration enforcement has been devastating for families.
“I work in Revere and I know people are very afraid.”
