Things looked a little topsy-turvy at the Brown and Glover schools Thursday morning, Nov. 13. That’s when Colston Sterio took over as Principal for a Day at Brown and Eamon Hickey did the same at Glover.
Principal for a Day is sponsored by the Friends of the Marblehead Public Schools. The nonprofit, which raises money for school programs and events, hosts a raffle each year to pick the aspiring principals.

Hickey, 7, was greeted by Glover’s usual principal, Frank Kowalski, and the two started practicing morning announcements, which Hickey delivered over the intercom.
Glover’s usual principal, Mary Maxfield, welcomed Stereo and set him up in her office.
Hickey and Stereo visited their schools’ classrooms, ordered extra recess and had a special lunch in the principals’ offices.
The Friends have launched their new grant season, encouraging educators, parents, community members, and local businesses and organizations to apply for funding to bring innovative programs to MPS.
Last year, Friends funded 15 educational enrichment initiatives now being implemented across the schools. Learn more at friendsofmarblehead.org.
