Dewey was born on May 11. He is up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations and is neutered. He and his sisters were born in a foster home and are used to children, cats and dogs. His sisters were just recently adopted, and now Dewey is all by himself, wondering when it is going to be his turn.

At his vet visit, Dewey’s test for FeLV and FIV came back as FIV-positive. FIV-positive kitties can live just as long as non-FIV positive cats, according to volunteers at the Marblehead Animal Shelter. They require no special care and are just as healthy. The doctor suggests that they get retested when they are over 6 months old, as it can be a false positive.
Shelter volunteers describe Dewey as a “cuddly purr machine.” They will adopt him out with another kitten or if there is another playful cat in the home. Like all kittens, he loves to play, sleep and eat, shelter volunteers report.
If you would like to offer Dewey a loving home, fill out an application at marblehead-animal-shelter.org. Also, you must be registered with a vet.
