The town is gearing up for Halloween with several fun, spooky parties and events.
On Saturday, Oct. 18, the Recreation & Parks Department holds its annual Scarecrow Stroll at Stramski’s Park. People are invited to decorate their own cardboard scarecrows, which will be displayed along the winding path. You can make your own from scratch or pick up a blank cardboard cutout and crossbar at the Jacobi Community Center, 10 Humphrey St. Cost for the cutout and crossbar is $18. More info and registration HERE.

On Wednesday, Oct. 22, Rec & Parks will lead an afternoon of pumpkin decorating at Gatchell’s Playground, 1-4 p.m. (This is a half-day at MPS.) The town will provide paint, glitter, glue, foam stickers and more. Register HERE.
Rec & Parks is also hosting its haunted house at Hamond Park on Saturday, Oct. 25 — this year’s theme is “Summer camp gone wrong!” There are two timeframes: 6:30-7:15 p.m. is called “lite” and 7:30-8:30 p.m. is labeled “extreme.” (Pre-registration is $6, event day is $8.)
On Thursday, Oct. 30, 4-6 p.m., the Marblehead Chamber of Commerce is holding its annual trick-of-treat event. Enjoy sweets and treats and extended shopping hours at participating businesses around town. Look for the Halloween pumpkin poster displayed by retailers to indicate their participation.

Also on the 30th, the Marblehead Museum and Family Fund are hosting their annual Pumpkin Illumination in the Lee Mansion Garden, 4-7 p.m. For more info, call the Chamber at 781-631-2868.
And on Halloween, Oct. 31, Abbot Library is hosting its Children’s Halloween Party from 10:30 a.m.-noon. There will be story time, easy crafts, games and snacks. The party is free. Register at abbbotlibrary.org.
