“The 2025 Marblehead annual Town Meeting will reconvene today, May 6, 2025, 7 p.m. at the Marblehead Hight School Field House at 2 Humphrey St.

Our venerable institution showed its strength last night. It also challenged decades of attendance which, despite planning for more than double the maximum we have seen since the early 80s, overwhelmed the venue and overflow room. Today, we are faced with another challenge which is to do our absolute best to run a successful annual Town
Meeting in a new venue. I have been communicating with an amazing group of leaders in town for most of the night and we will be working throughout the day to do our best for us to process the important business of the town as legislators.

If you are coming tonight looking for perfection, you will likely be dismayed. The MHS venue has parking and acoustical challenges, and the larger setting will not be the same with viewing angles and comfort of the familiar space we traditionally use. Just like the commitment and sacrifice that comes along with participation in Town Meeting, we will need to work together to make the most of the current situation. If you come with an open mind and willingness to work together, I have faith that we will persevere through this challenge of riches. Anything less has great potential to only make it harder.

I am proud of our town. I appreciate the support received and will do my best as moderator to complete the 2025 annual Town Meeting.

I am asking the Current to post updates on this post as they become available throughout the day, and I will provide them as we progress.”
