Marblehead to host listening session on rail trail project

Marblehead will hold a public listening session Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. to discuss designs for a new rail trail project connecting Salem and Swampscott.

The meeting, to be held at Abbot Hall at 188 Washington St., will provide updates on preliminary and final design plans for the Marblehead Rail Trail. Town officials have retained a consultant to develop the designs for the project.

The proposed trail would connect through multiple portions of the North Shore, with the project extending from Salem at the Lafayette Street entrance, through Marblehead and into Swampscott near Preston Beach.

Residents can attend either in person or virtually via this Zoom link bit.ly/3OD2gvJ. Those interested in learning more can contact the town’s planning department at planning@marblehead.org.
