To the editor:
Tonight, the MEA demonstrated leadership by making the first substantial move in the bargaining process, showing us all their commitment to our district, our children and each other.
This action makes it clear: our educators, like us, want an immediate and meaningful path toward a contract that will bring everyone back to school.
If the School Committee is unable to accept the MEA’s proposal as it stands, we call on them to waste no time. They must return to the bargaining table on Wednesday morning with a serious and constructive counteroffer that works toward a fair compromise.
There is no room left for stalled discussions, proposals dismissed without comment or delays that only prolong the uncertainty facing our schools and community.
Our students, families and educators deserve a resolution. We urge the School Committee to take action without delay.
Sincerely,
Reece Dahlberg, Fieldbrook Road
