COVID cases up locally, town hands out free tests

The town’s Health Department is handing out free COVID tests after seeing a jump in cases late this summer.

“We are seeing an increase, but this follows the regular trend of COVID at this time,” Health Director Andrew Petty told the Current.

Typically, COVID rates start to steadily increase beginning in November through late January, he added.

Residents can receive one COVID test box, containing two tests, per household. The Health Department is located at the Mary Alley Building on Widger Road.

For people who do test positive for COVID, Petty shared this link with guidance from the state about staying home to prevent spread of the virus.
