The Marblehead Housing Authority Board of Commissioners has an open seat after Joan Cutler submitted her resignation from the five-member board in early September.
“Cutler submitted her resignation on Sept. 6 as an elected member of the Marblehead Housing Authority,” Marblehead Town Clerk Robin Michaud told the Select Board. “The resignation is effective Sept. 15.”
The vacancy comes in the second year of Cutler’s five year term – set to expire in June of 2025. Cathy Hoog, the executive director of the Marblehead Housing Authority, said the filling-a-vacancy appointing authority is the Select Board. She said whomever the five-member board picks will fill the vacancy on an interim basis. They would need to run for office in the June 2023 election.
“Joan has been an incredible resource for me. She has years of experience behind her – with regard to community engagement, She was a former Marblehead Housing Authority resident,” said Hoog after a presentation at the Select Board on Wednesday night. “She has been a beacon of hope and advocacy for people at the Marblehead Housing Authority, and locally, just an incredible resource for me, so motivating and positive and influential.”
She said, “I am very sad that she’s no longer on the board.”
Select Board members said they would await for appointing instructions from the Marblehead Housing Authority.
