MHS volleyball bests Peabody in straight sets

Marblehead High’s girls volleyball came out strong over Peabody Sept. 13, winning in straight sets, 25-16, 25-20, 25-19.

For Marblehead, this was a huge comeback win against the reigning Northeastern Conference champions, and also a dramatic improvement after last week’s NEC loss to Beverly.

Keira Sweetnam continued to dominate Marblehead’s offense with 16 kills, three aces and eight digs.

Isabel Wabno led the team’s defense with 18 digs and two aces and also added in another eight kills.

Setters Tamya Johnson (15 assists) and Julia Potvin (11 assists) were both spectacular for Marblehead.

Marblehead is now 2-1 and faces Winthrop on Thursday.
