The Marblehead Current Submission Policy

The Marblehead Current welcomes community submissions, letters to the editor, opinion editorials and guest columns from readers on issues of local interest.

Only content from members of the Marblehead community — with preference given to residents — will be published, unless the author or subject matter is in some way connected to the town. The Current will decide if the connection to Marblehead warrants publication.

Community groups are welcome to share information on upcoming events, pictures with captions and photo credits, and story ideas. Press releases also welcome. Please email your content with as much lead time as possible to info@marbleheadnews.org.

Submission guidelines:

Letters are limited to 500 words; columns are limited to 850 words. Submissions exceeding the word limit may not be published and will be returned to the writer for editing.

The Current will accept election-related letters to the editors until 5 p.m. on Friday, June 9, for our print edition and 5 p.m. on Friday, June 16, for online publication. To submit yours, click here or email info@marbleheadnews.org.

Letters must include:

1. The author’s name. Unsigned letters and form letters will not be published.

 2. The name of the street the author lives on in Marblehead. Only the street name will be published next to the author’s name – not their full address.

3. For every letter, we will need an author’s daytime/cell phone number (not for publication) for verification purposes.

4. Please limit letters to topics that impact Marblehead directly and avoid commentary on wider conflicts and issues.

5. Some letters may be shared to social media. We will share a balanced array of viewpoints.

Email submissions to info@marbleheadnews.org. All pieces are published at the discretion of the Marblehead Current.
