Select Board to interview town administrator finalists Nov. 4

The Marblehead Select Board will interview finalists for town administrator Wednesday, Nov. 4, 5 p.m., as the town prepares for the departure of Thatcher Kezer at the end of December.

The interviews will be open to the public at Abbot Hall. They will also be available virtually.

The town hired a consultant to assist with the searches for a new town administrator and finance director. The latter position has been vacant since Aleesha Benjamin left this summer.

The screening committee, which includes Select Board member Erin Noonan, has not disclosed the names or number of finalists.

Select Board Chair Dan Fox said the town will begin recruiting a finance director once it has a contract with a new town administrator.

“Once we pick a new town administrator, we will look for a new finance director. Everyone we talk to says that bringing in a finance director before they know who they’ll be working for is not the right play. So our plan is as soon as we have a (town administrator) contract in place, we will go right out for a finance director,” Fox said.

The town is offering a town administrator starting salary of $200,000 to $215,000.
