OBITUARY: Rachel Lowell (Seamans) Schroeder, 71

Rachel Lowell (Seamans) Schroeder, 71, of Marblehead, passed away on Friday, Oct.  23, 2026, after a long battle with cancer.

Rachel Lowell (Seamans) Schroeder

Born in Salem on Nov. 4, 1954, Rachel was the daughter of the late Peter and Anne Seamans, also of Marblehead. A beloved member of the Marblehead community, she was a familiar face at several local businesses over the years. Rachel had a talent for bringing beauty to even the smallest spaces through her gardening; a love of reading and sharing books with friends; and a gift for making people feel seen and loved. She had a special place in her heart for her rescue dog, Dottie.

Rachel is survived by her daughters, Amy Shea and her husband, Michael, of North Andover, and Jane Jacobson and her wife, Rachel of Los Angeles; her grandson, Jackson Shea; and her siblings, Peter Seamans of Peabody, Polly Crowninshield of Marblehead, Rebekah Clark of Portland, Oregon, and Campbell Seamans of Salem. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.

Her family extends heartfelt thanks to the AA community for their friendship and support.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Rachel’s memory may be made to Northeast Animal Shelter. For more information and online guestbook, please call the Murphy Funeral Home at 978-744-0497 or visit MurphyFuneralHome.com.
