Make It and Take It: Stained Glass
Wednesday, Sept 23, 6-9 p.m.
Join renowned stained-glass artist Carol Cross and explore the basics of stained glass at Marblehead Arts Association. In this three-hour workshop, students will learn how to transfer a paper design onto glass, how to cut and foil the glass, solder and finish the pieces. Each student will make up to three pieces. No experience with stained glass necessary. All supplies and equipment provided by MAA.

Rough Medicine
Thursday, Sept. 24, 7 p.m.
The Marblehead Museum will host a lecture in its JOJ Frost Gallery titled “Rough Medicine: A Medical History of the Revolution.”
Dr. Raymond Sullivan, a member of the Glover’s Regiment reenactment group, will reveal the history of physicians and surgeons in the 18th century, and the most common disease and wounds of the ordinary foot soldier. Sullivan will also discuss the career of Glover’s Regiment’s own Revolution-era surgeon, Nathaniel Bond. Members of Glover’s Regiment will be present at the lecture in full period clothing.

Speed puzzling competition
Saturday, Sept. 26, 10 a.m.-noon
Join the Marblehead Festival of Arts for its latest speed puzzling competitions at Abbot Hall, 188 Washington St.
Tickets are available for the “casual” competition (300 pieces) and “advanced” (500 pieces). Each ticket is good for a team of two, and your puzzle is yours to keep after the competition. Register at marbleheadfestival.org.
St. Andrew’s Fall Rummage Sale
Saturday, Sept 26, 8 a.m.-1 p.m.
One of Marblehead’s longstanding rummage-sale traditions returns with thousands of donated items ready for new homes. Come browse clothing and accessories, jewelry, home goods, toys, sporting goods, electronics, collectibles, and specialty and vintage items. Shop sustainably and support the work of St. Andrew’s in the community. Location: 135 Lafayette St.
Trailblazing Women in the Revolution
Saturday, Sept 26, 10 a.m.
Travel through time at the Jeremiah Lee Mansion. Meghan Boehmer, an actress from the Boston Tea Party Museum, will portray Sarah Griste Mugford, the wife of Revolutionary hero James Mugford. Boehmer will illustrate the role of women during the Revolution and reveal how
Sarah took charge of her life after Mugford’s death. This Trails and Sails program is free.
Clifton Lutheran’s Fall Fest
Sunday, Sept. 27, 1-4 p.m.
Clifton Lutheran Church is hosting a Fall Fest on Sept. 27 with all proceeds benefitting Mission of Hope International in Haiti (mohintl.org). The church will also have pumpkins for sale as a fundraiser for both the church and the Navajo reservation in New Mexico that grows the pumpkins.
Fall exhibit opening reception
Sunday, Sept. 27, 2-4 p.m.
The Marblehead Arts Association’s fall exhibits opening reception showcases works by local artists and photographers, including solo shows by James Bostick, Julian Orenstein and Susan Irene Correia. Admission is free, and complimentary refreshments will be served, with opportunities to view the exhibits and meet the artists. Fall exhibits run through Saturday, Oct. 31. MAA galleries and the artisan shop are open Wednesday to Sunday, noon-5 p.m. 8 Hooper St.
