10:55 p.m. An officer spoke with a woman and her daughter about an incident that had occurred hours earlier at Eastern Yacht Club, where the daughter had been playing mixed doubles tennis with friends. While they were playing, a black SUV had driven by, and the driver stopped and took pictures of them playing tennis. The SUV left, and the daughter did not think anything of it until the vehicle returned about 15 minutes later. This time, the driver parked the vehicle, got out and started watching them play tennis. The driver, whom she described as a male in 50s, approximately 5-foot-10 with short dark hair, approached them and apologized for interrupting their game. He explained that he was in Marblehead on vacation from Burlington and asked if it would be OK if he took a picture of himself holding a racquet, pretending to play tennis. The daughter stated that they obliged him, and her friend hit a couple of balls at
him. The daughter stated that the man then asked if one of the girls would get in the photo with him, so it looked like he was playing doubles. The daughter stated that she refused, but her friend complied just so the man would leave. The daughter stated that she was uncomfortable about the entire situation and called her mother for a ride home. Upon hearing the story, the mother recommended that she report the incident to the police. The officer advised the daughter to contact police if any similar incidents happen in the future so the police could try to identify the man at a minimum. Both the mother and the officer told the daughter that it is OK at a private club to question if someone is a member and to contact staff or police, as a non-member would be trespassing. The officer said that he would pass the information on to the officer-in-charge so he could share it with officers on the other shifts.

7:07 a.m. An officer investigated a report of suspicious activity on Tedesco Street.
8:53 a.m. An officer investigated a general complaint on West Shore Drive.
9:57 a.m. An officer was dispatched to Front Street to investigate a report that a landscaping crew was being harassed. Upon his arrival, he was met by one of the landscapers who explained that a resident had come outside and complained about the noise from the company’s Bobcat machine, as she had been trying to sleep. The resident had also taken photographs and video of the workers before heading back inside. The landscaper explained that they had only been using the Bobcat to carry bricks to the back of their truck and were done using it. The officer then knocked on the door of the home and spoke to the resident who said that she was concerned that the crew had no idea what they were doing as they tried to carry too many bricks at once. She said that when she went out to take pictures of the crew and complain about the noise, the head of the crew did not like that and began yelling at her and recording. The resident said that at no point did the argument become physical and that she was mainly upset at the use of the Bobcat. The officer advised both parties to stay away from each other and told the resident that the crew should be done soon.

3:56 p.m. An officer spoke at the station with a woman who explained that approximately five years ago her Facebook account had been hacked, locking her out of the account. The woman said that the hacked account will periodically post different items for sale and wanted it known that she was not selling these items. She had tried to contact Facebook to have them take the account down but has had no luck.

9:07 a.m. An officer assisted a citizen on Atlantic Avenue.
9:46 a.m. An officer responded to the area of the Old Town House on Washington Street to assist a woman who has lost her car key, and it was “pinging” downtown. Upon his arrival, the officer met with the woman who explained that she had lost her car key sometime between when she parked and when she went inside Mookie’s. She told me that she only had one key and did not own a spare, but she had an AirTag attached to her key chain. The woman showed the officer that the Airtag was pinging from Orne Street, Beacon Street, Farrell Court and Intrepid Circle, all at different times. After the officer gave her a ride back to her home with permission from the officer-in-charge, the officer attempted to locate the keys on Farrell Court but was unsuccessful. At the station, the officer was made aware that the woman’s husband had called in and shared the link with the AirTag with the officer-in-charge. He then received the link and attempted once again to locate the keys that were pinging on Farrell Court and then bouncing back to the area of Intrepid Circle. After knocking on several doors at Farrell Court and Intrepid Circle, the officer was able to locate the keys that had been mistakenly taken by an Intrepid Circle resident at the counter of Mookie’s. The woman told the officer that she did not realize her keys were in her pocketbook. When an employee at Mookie’s asked who had left their keys behind, she thought that they were hers. The officer took possession of the keys and returned them to their rightful owner.

5:57 p.m. An officer went to Lafayette Street to speak to a resident about a package containing an iPad that the resident had ordered from Xfinity, which UPS reported as having been delivered but was missing. UPS had been instructed to only deliver the item if someone at the home had signed for it. The resident had received a missed delivery notice from a UPS driver on Aug. 26 but then got a notice that the package had been left at her residence at 2:27 p.m. on Aug. 27. The resident had checked her home security footage but did not see any attempt to deliver the package. The resident had contacted both Xfinity and UPS to start the lost package claim, and both advised she should report the issue to police as they conducted their own investigation.

1:31 p.m. An officer spoke in the station with the town’s pickleball ambassador about ongoing issues pickleball players have had with vandalism at the courts at Seaside Park. The woman stated that when she and other players arrived at the courts today for their daily game, they discovered that someone had broken an Adirondack chair and left cigarettes and empty cans of alcoholic beverages on the court. She showed the officer video that also showed that the unknown vandals had dumped out a bucket of pickleballs and scattered them throughout the court. The woman said that she had been in contact with Police Chief Dennis King regarding the incident. The officer advised her to report any future incidents of vandalism.
