Stay informed with new town alerts
MarbleheadAlerts is the town’s new mass notification system for “alerts about severe weather, boil water orders and other public safety issues,” according to a press release. Residents can choose to receive notifications by text, email or phone call. MarbleheadAlerts is powered by Regroup, which replaces CodeRed, and supports translations of text and email messages into most languages. You can also sign up to receive non-emergency notifications, including elections and major town events.

Veterans School recognized
The New England League of Middle Schools has named Marblehead’s Veterans School a “spotlight school,” for implementing high-quality, research-based practices. Spotlight schools are “models of excellence, demonstrating effective teaching, strong curriculum and a supportive environment,” according to NELMS.

Farmers’ Market back soon
The Marblehead Farmers’ Market returns on May 30 and runs through Nov. 21 behind the Veterans School.
“All of our farms are returning, and I have a couple of new food vendors going through the approval process now,” said manager Stephen Fowler.
CNN is coming to Temple Sinai
Temple Sinai on Community Road is hosting two CNN reporters for a discussion entitled, “The media’s role in a changing landscape.”

Honored for work fighting discrimination
Marblehead resident Melissa Kaplowitch, Ph.D., was presented with citations from the Massachusetts House and Senate for her commitment to fighting hate and discrimination at the 2026 ADL Law and Education Day Breakfast May 7. State Rep. Jenny Armini delivered the citations. Kaplowitch was also presented with a leadership award for her many years of service to ADL and the fight against antisemitism.
Sports complex expands to Marblehead
Danvers Indoor Sports is opening a new location in Marblehead at 41 Tioga Way, offering programs for kids ages 18 months to 6 years old. Programs will include Lil’ Kickers soccer classes, DIScover sports classes, birthday parties and more.
Lil’ Kickers is an award-winning child development program that uses soccer to help children tackle important developmental milestones through age-appropriate and fun-filled activities.
DIScover Sports and Play is a child development and sport introduction program for kids to develop skills, understanding, sportsmanship and teamwork.
The community is invited to the open house on Friday, May 15, 4-6 p.m. to see the new space, participate in Lil’ Kickers and DIScover classes, enjoy a hands-on STEM activity, facepainting, art projects and chocolate chip cookies from Maria’s Gourmet.
