Devereux Beach Carnival

The annual Devereux Beach Carnival is coming, sponsored by the Marblehead High junior class. Admission is $2 (kids under 36” are free).

Plant Sale – Cottage Gardeners

After a long winter, the Cottage Gardeners are setting up their biggest event of the year: the annual plant sale. If you are looking for a broad selection of healthy, locally grown perennials that thrive in the Marblehead, Salem and Swampscott area it’s the right occasion for you. Rummage Sale

If you are looking for affordable secondhand goods, check out the annual rummage sale at St. Andrew’s Episocopal Church, 135 Lafayette St. Afterwards, the “stuff-a-bag’’ sale goes from noon-1 p.m. Stroll around looking for household items and unique finds while supporting sustainability.

Walk for Peace
Sunday, May 10, 1 p.m.
The community is invited to join a Walk for Peace beginning and ending at Stramski Park. This free, community-led event offers an opportunity to step away from the noise of daily life and come together in a shared intention for peace — both within your own life and for the world at large. The 3.2-mile route will take approximately one hour to walk, with a 30-minute stop at Abbot Hall for rest, reflection and a brief ceremony. MHD Cruise-In
Tuesday, May 12, 6-8 p.m.
Join the MHD Cruise-In at Devereux Beach that shows off classic cars the second Tuesday of each month from May through October. Coffee with the Current

With Town Meeting complete and June elections ahead, come share your thoughts with the newsroom and board of the Marblehead Current newspaper for a lively discussion about the kind of coverage you would like to see more of (or less of) in Marblehead. There will be an opportunity to ask questions about the Current’s news and editorial (opinion) policies. Coffee and muffins will be served at Abbot Public Library.
Slavery to Freedom Tour
Friday, May 15, 7 p.m.
Marblehead Museum will lead a walking tour on the history of slavery and the abolitionist movement. Visit sites of local slavery from the 1700s, and sites where black and white abolitionists fought for freedom from the pulpit, the ballot box and the Underground Railroad. Lucy Kaplansky at the MeandThee

Me&Thee’s 56th season ends with a live performance by singer-songwriter Lucy Kaplansky. Two of Kaplansky’s CDs have been awarded Best Pop Album of the year by the Association of Independent Music.
