Car strikes pole on Humphrey Street and Countryside Lane

Traffic was being rerouted on a section of Humphrey Street Thursday evening after a single-car crash at the corner of Humphrey Street and Countryside Lane. Officers at the scene were looking inside the Toyota hatchback.

At 6:35 p.m., Police Chief Dennis King sent this statement: “On January 8th, 2026, at approximately 4:23PM, the Marblehead Police Department responded to a report of a single motor vehicle crash in the area of 10 Humphrey Street. Within minutes, Marblehead Police and Fire units arrived and located a vehicle with extensive damage and rendered aid to the driver and sole occupant. This individual was treated and transported to a local hospital by ambulance for injuries. Marblehead Police, the Essex County District Attorney’s Office and the Massachusetts State Police are working on this active investigation.”
