Beginning Monday morning, April 14, the entrance to the Transfer Station will permanently move from Woodfin Terrace to Green Street.
“We’re ready to move to the next phase,” Public Health Director Andrew Petty announced at a Board of Health meeting April 8. “We have our transaction hut set up in the recycling area. We have our compactor hut set up in the commercial recycling area. We’re ready to change the traffic flow at the Transfer Station.”
Petty said that residents with permits, along with permitted landscaping companies and commercial recycling clients, will enter on Green Street. The gates open at 7 a.m., and the facility opens at 7:30 a.m. Temporary signage, directing traffic, is up.
“It’s going to take some time for people to get used to this but obviously, you know, we feel that the flow is correct,” Petty said. “This is going to be a good thing for everybody. What we’re trying to prevent is crossover traffic.”
Petty also announced that the Transfer Station’s new license plate-reader system will be ready to launch in a couple of months.
