****NEW: Interim Superintendent John Robidoux just announced there will be no school on Friday. Striking teachers and the School Committee bargaining subcommittee are working with a state mediator tonight. The union plans a press conference at 7:45 p.m.
An Essex Superior Court judge has just handed down fines to the Marblehead Education Association. If the teachers don’t end their strike by Thursday at 6 p.m., the union will be hit a $50,000 fine, paid to the state.
Each subsequent school day after Thursday, $10,000 will be added to the fine, meaning Friday’s total will be $60,000.
The MEA says it will respond to the judge’s ruling at a press conference Thursday at 7:45 p.m. outside Marblehead High School.
