Police canvas area after home break-in near walking path

Marblehead police officers are canvasing the area along the old railroad right-of-way, known to many as "the path," as they investigate a break-in at a nearby home Friday morning. The incident occurred between 9:30 a.m. and 11:20 a.m. near the JCC and Epstein Hillel School. Officers spoke with neighbors and asked anyone who was on the path or streets backing up to Community Road — including Pickwick, Trager and Leicester roads — during the morning hours to contact them if they noticed anything unusual. A homeowner arrived to find a previously locked rear door forced open and damaged. The homeowner immediately called 911 and responding officers searched the house. POLICE LOG: Tire troubles, theft and hit-and-runs

Excerpts from the Marblehead police log Nov. 16-29. Consistent with state law, Marblehead Police have adopted a policy of not providing media outlets reports related to incidents involving domestic violence, juveniles and matters that remain under investigation. Nov. 16 1:54 p.m. — Officer Charles Sweeney was dispatched to Village Street for a report of a vehicle that had suddenly lost a tire while driving, causing the driver to abruptly pull over. According to Sweeney's report, the vehicle — a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee — pulled into the nearby Village School parking lot due to the significant damage sustained. Nov. 11 8:30 a.m. – Officers Adam Mastrangelo and Zachary Mills responded to the area of Bubier Road to investigate a string of overnight vehicle breaks that occurred in the neighborhood. Oct. 18 1:41 a.m. — Officer Nick Fratini met with a resident at the police station. The resident reported being harassed by her upstairs neighbor for several months and installed security cameras and noticed a bicycle placed in front of one camera under the porch. Sept. 20 1:32 p.m. — Officer Nicholas Michaud was dispatched to the station lobby concerning a fraud report. Upon arrival, the reporting party, a male, informed the officer that he is the owner of a Salem business. The individual reported that his bookkeeper discovered an unauthorized check written for $23,44.40 and a subsequent review revealed an earlier check written for $36,226.
