From smartphones to computers… When technology breaks the default behavior is "get a new one."   But now there’s a growing movement to cut back on the vast amount of electronic waste produced each year.  To that end, some computer manufacturers have begun working toward giving consumers the ability to fix broken products.   The Digital Docs, along with many other qualified repair centers around the globe, are part of a growing movement to refurbish desktops and laptops every year that would’ve otherwise ended up being junked. If they don’t qualify for repair, they will be ethically recycled (sent to a recycler that breaks down all the components and precious metals for re-use.) Peaches are in season at the Marblehead Farmers' Market Attendees at the Marblehead Farmers' Market this Saturday, July 30 can expect to find corn, peaches, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, summer squash, fresh onions, cabbage, beets, radishes, potatoes, beans, carrots, mushrooms, as well as a wide variety of salad and cooking greens, cut flowers, potted plants and much more. Farms this season are Middle Earth Farm with vegetables. Grant Family Farm will be offering fresh eggs, cut flowers, and vegetables.  Bear Hill Farm will have pork, vegetables, and local fruit. Thirty-five years ago, a group of concerned citizens and representatives from the public school system established a non-profit organization to provide financial need-based assistance to Marblehead students pursuing a college education. Since its inception in 1987, Marblehead Dollars for Scholars has distributed more than 1,700 awards totaling nearly $4 million. In recognition of its 35th anniversary, the local non-profit organization will hold a Summer Garden Celebration on Sunday, Aug. 14 from 5-7:30 p.m. in the beautiful gardens of Helaine and Jim Hazlett.
