Marblehead Little Theatre gathers to remember Ginny Morton

In her life, Marblehead resident Ginny Morton excelled at recruiting people and delegating tasks for the various Marblehead Little Theatre productions and projects that she led or got herself involved in over the years. Her passion and dedication behind each was contagious, giving others the feeling that their contributions were valued and meaningful to the larger mission. Such were the revisited attributes and traits that surfaced when friends and family members offered remarks during Mortion's celebration of life in MLT on Saturday afternoon. Laughs and friendly banter filled the School Street theatre house for about two hours as folks dropped in, enjoyed heavy hors d'oeuvres, swapped "Ginny stories" and looked over a slide show looping pictures of Morton throughout her life. Marblehead Little Theatre’s fall children’s musical

For ages 7-12 MLT’s Children’s Theater productions are age-appropriate scripted musicals licensed from one of several companies who specialize in children’s theatrical titles. Each child will be cast with a speaking and singing part, usually with choreographed movement. We limit our program to under 23 actors – everyone has a unique role or roles. FALL 2022 Inspired by “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas,” The Grunch tells the story of Rudy Grunch, a grumpy 6th grader who always feels like an outsider. When the entire school gets excited about the annual school musical, he comes up with a perfect plan to ruin it for everyone; he’ll steal the sets, costumes and lights the night before it opens. But will the spirit of theater prevail? Ages: 7-12 Rehearsals: Sept. 13 – Nov. 3 ...

Top Gun: Maverick Review

July 16, 2022“I was trying to be the father he lost, I wish I would have done it better,” says Maverick (Tom Cruise) about his relationship with Rooster (Miles Teller). But there’s no doubt that “Top Gun: Maverick” surpasses Tony Scott’s original. “Maverick” finds Maverick caught in a conundrum. He’s been kicked on account of cockiness from the Air Force’s experimental-planes division. On special order from Iceman (Val Kilmer), now a high-ranking officer, Maverick has another option: Go back to the elite "Top Gun" program to train a series of recent graduates for a top-secret mission. Among his students is Rooster, the son of Maverick’s best friend –– the predeceased Goose (Anthony Edwards in “Top Gun”) –– who holds Maverick accountable for setting him back in his Air Force caree...

Marblehead concert offers ‘great purpose in a dark time’

There was something for everyone at the Shelter My Soul concert Saturday night. New songs from the Chad Hollister Band and some old favorites from the Deb Larkin and Jeff Stout Jazz Quintet. A sparse but enthusiastic audience was on hand in the Performing Arts Center at Veterans Middle School. The concert benefited the Lynn Shelter Association which is raising money to rehabilitate a new space for the region’s homeless in neighboring Lynn. “This concert provides great purpose in a dark time,” declared The Rev. Clyde Elledge, rector of St. Andrew’s (Episcopal) Church and cochair of the event.
