Me&Thee presents Antje Duvekot & Chris O’Brien

On Sept. 23, one of Boston's top singer-songwriters Antje Duvekot returns to Me&Thee Music with her only local show before leaving on her west coast tour. Antje has won some of the top songwriting awards including the Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition, the prestigious Kerrville, Texas "Best New Folk Award" and a Boston Music Award for "Outstanding Folk Act." She has toured internationally including in Scotland, Germany & Denmark. Her song "Merry Go Round" was featured on a Bank of America Super Bowl ad. Antje's music prompted a Boston Globe reviewer to write, her "songs turn fear into resilience and isolation into community." Marblehead Chamber of Commerce names 2022 person of the year

Next month, the Marblehead Chamber of Commerce will bestow its highest accolade - one awarded annually - on Marblehead resident Brian Wheeler, who has been involved in the town's arts scene for decades. The Chamber will properly honor Wheeler with the Rey Moulton Person of the Year Award when the nonprofit's members convene in the Corinthian Yacht Club, 1 Nahant St., for their 70th annual meeting on Sept. 27. Wheeler has been the longtime chairperson of the performing arts portion of the Marblehead Festival of Arts, and that job includes oversight of as well as getting the ducks in a row for the Marblehead Crocker Park concert. Courtesy Marblehead Museum Warwick Cinema, a landmark in Marblehead for more than 100 years, has survived the pandemic and is reinventing itself again. “We're thinking outside the box,” said Johnny Ray, who co-owns the Warwick and the adjoining restaurant ,The Beacon. “We’ll be doing events other than movies. Of course, we still do first-run movies all the time.” COVID-19 shut down cinemas for months and slashed profits as people shied away from public indoor spaces. The pandemic also prompted big changes in the movie industry, said Ray. “Hollywood started releasing movies in theaters and streaming simultaneously and people got acclimated to that. Me&Thee Music announces plans to kick off its 53rd season with Marblehead’s best known musical duo, Mason Daring and Jeanie Stahl, on Friday, Sept. 9. In her life, Marblehead resident Ginny Morton excelled at recruiting people and delegating tasks for the various Marblehead Little Theatre productions and projects that she led or got herself involved in over the years. Her passion and dedication behind each was contagious, giving others the feeling that their contributions were valued and meaningful to the larger mission. For ages 7-12 MLT’s Children’s Theater productions are age-appropriate scripted musicals licensed from one of several companies who specialize in children’s theatrical titles. Each child will be cast with a speaking and singing part, usually with choreographed movement. We limit our program to under 23 actors – everyone has a unique role or roles.
